Manon

Manon Back

Note to self: newly painted house with nothing on the walls yet makes for lovely photos.

So I finished Manon today, aside from blocking, and it turned out lovely.

You can find all the details you need and more photos on Ravelry: Volkstricken’s Manon

But if you aren’t on Ravelry yet, here is what I have to say:

I made gauge on 4mm needles, instead of the 5.5mm suggested.

I’m making the smallest size even though I have a 34” bust. This first triangle is 8.5” along the side… Looking at the construction diagrams, it looks like that means this sweater will measure four times that around – for 33”. I tend to like my sweaters with just a touch of negative ease, so I think this will end up being the perfect size…

And it fits great! The photos are pre-block, although I steamed before I seamed. Overall, I’m totally happy with this sweater and it knit up pretty quickly. I love this heathered merino from Frog Tree! Just as soft as Malabrigo, but hardier. I think it will wear really well.

Mods: Three needle bind-off at side seams, instead of sewing up later. No lazy-daisy embroidery. I picked up the whole body at once then divided for the front and back. I also knit the body about an inch longer than I was supposed to, so the top of the ribbing would hit right under my bust.

Next up, I’m thinking about maybe Bianca’s Jacket

Nice! The color is great on you. I always feel nervous about knitting a sweater in parts like that- I’m sure I’d knit the wrong size.

Nice work! I like how it doesn’t cut your bust in half, like it does on the model!

Positively gorgeous. Love Norah, she’s amazing – my favorite, but somehow I have yet to knit any of her designs – because I can’t decide, I think! Thanks for the detail on the sizing, very helpful – it’s a perfect fit!

Looks fabulous. I saw it in person!!!
I tried not to touch it. That would have been a wee bit creepy. But I thought about it.
